The Foundation
The JEN Foundation, being under the umbrella of UNICEF, is earmarked and its funds will only be made use of for specific project fields initiated by UNICEF or defined regions in the world. To this end, the Foundation's assets have been subdivided into a number of funds that relate either to issues or regions.
What is a foundation?
What does "donate" mean?
To "donate" is to provide money or goods, which will become assets, for a certain purpose. Since foundations work only with the interest rates they gain from their funds, they will never exhaust their financial resources. Many foundations already have existed for centuries and are still acting for the purpose laid out by their founder. The money or goods that have been placed into a foundation become and remain its stock funds. This contributes to the organization's endurance and sustainability. Foundations work with the regular gains generated by the investments made through their stock funds. These gains are to the direct benefit of the foundation's purpose. There could also be additional donations for the stocking up on the foundation's assets if needed.
To "donate" or to "contribute"?
Contributions towards a fund will immediately be to the benefit of project work. Donations, however, are the right choice for all of those who think in the long run and want to make a difference even beyond their lifetime. The primary purpose of a foundation is to invest into the future, so as to have the founder's original intention live on in the generations to come.
A discretionary foundation under the umbrella of UNICEF carries the benefactor's name. This is accomplished by a deed of trust, and by-laws, stating the organization's purpose. Through this agreement, the benefactor obligates oneself to transfer the foundation's assets to the trustee. UNICEF guarantees the separate administration of the assets and the application of gains in compliance with the organization's purpose, as stated in the by-laws.
